From India with love – An update from Swami Karma Karuna
Embarking on a cultural dive into India, our journey began in the vibrant city of Kolkata. We gathered as a group, ready to explore the rich tapestry and spiritual depth of this incredible country. Our next stop was Munger, where we had the privilege of experiencing the depth and inspiration offered by Swami Niranjanananda during our courses. Personally, I left Munger feeling energetically full and deeply inspired. Swami Niranjanananda’s discourse during the Progressive course on the Yoga Tara Vali by Sri Shankaracharya provided me with a profound connection to the history of our lineage.
At Rikhia Peeth, the Tattwa Shuddhi program brought together 47 participants from around the world and across India. Each day, we built the layers of this transformative practice, supported by beautiful class of hatha Yoga, Yoga Nidra and the ashram’s energy. The icing on the cake was the presence of Swami Satyasangananda. It was a period of deep sadhana that left a lasting impact on all who attended.
A quick trip to Kathmandu, Nepal, to renew my visa allowed me to reconnect with the place where my yoga journey began over 30 years ago. The nostalgia and inspiration from this visit have me eager to return and spend more time there.
Back in India, I participated in three weeks of yajnas and aradhanas at the ashram, where we chanted for most of the day with the Pandits from Varanasi and potency of ancient yajna ritual. Thousands of prasad items, including farming equipment and bicycles, were distributed to local communities and visitors. Witnessing the launch of Rishaya, a local initiative from Rikhia Peeth, was a highlight. This project empowers women by allowing them to create beautiful, embroidered items, with proceeds going back to support them.
Feeling high on mantras, I then traveled to South India to meet my family for a Pancha Karma Ayurveda cleansing and renewal. I am now feeling abundant, nourished, and inspired, and I look forward to sharing next year’s journey with you soon.
