Caretaker Role at Anhata Yoga Retreat

Anahata is currently in a transitional phase, and we are looking for dedicated individuals or a family to help steward this special land over the coming months.

We seek responsible, experienced, and self-motivated people to care for our off-grid property in beautiful Golden Bay. This opportunity is ideal for those who are passionate about sustainability and wish to contribute to the general upkeep of the land and buildings while we transition to new ownership.

 

What You Will Receive in Exchange for Approximately 20 Hours Per Week:

  • Onsite accommodation (including heating fuel: wood or LPG)
  • Access to stocked dry goods and fresh produce from our organic garden
  • Fresh water sourced from our underground spring
  • Internet access
  • Use of the Yoga Temple for personal practice
  • Access to our wood-fired sauna
  • A serene, eco-friendly environment with no light or noise pollution
  • Stunning natural surroundings, located next to Abel Tasman National Park

Tasks Will Include:

  • General maintenance and upkeep of buildings, grounds, and equipment
  • Routine checks on essential systems (solar, water, etc.)
  • Ensuring spaces are ready for property viewings

 

Essential Requirements:

  • Ability to self-manage and prioritise tasks effectively
  • Willingness to work independently or as part of a team
  • Physically fit and comfortable with outdoor work
  • Full NZ driver’s licence and experience driving a manual vehicle with a trailer (Applicants with this experience will be prioritised, but all are welcome to apply)
  • Ability to safely operate lawnmowers, whipper snippers, and other machinery/tools

 

Additional Skills That Would Be Beneficial:

  • General landscaping experience
  • Basic plumbing knowledge
  • Familiarity with solar systems and general electrical work
  • Experience with composting toilets and humanure systems
