6-week Yoga Immersion: Hatha Yoga & Yoga Nidra Relaxation Class at The Sandcastle

 5.30pm – 7:00pm

Welcome to a 6-week Yoga Immersion Series.  Teacher Ali will be bringing you a mix of Hatha Yoga and Yoga Nidra in a progressive sequence of themes.

Join the class for the whole series or on a casual basis.

About

Hatha Yoga translates as sun and moon yoga – helping you to bring about balance of the body and its energetic network, prana.

Yoga Nidra is the practice of yogic sleep where sense withdrawal, pratyahara is taught to induce a deep relaxation. Read the full benefits of Yoga Nidra on our blog.

Suitable for every levels from Beginner to Advanced. No previous experience required.

No need to pre-book – just come along. Please remember to bring your mat!

Week 1- (Tuesday 21st May) Letting Go and balancing your Vata for Autumn
1st week will be focusing on creating a strong foundation of knowledge from explanations of selected hatha yoga asanas and the stages in the 6 stage yoga nidra.

Week 2– (Tuesday 28th May) Focusing inward to prepare for winter
2nd week will be giving attention onto how to keep the body safe through alignment and correct breathing. The 8 stage yoga nidra incorporating sankalpa bringing attention to a strong personal intention.

Week 3 – (Tuesday 4th June) Worshiping Surya the sun
3rd week will be about empowerment reconnecting to the energy and warmth in the physical body, the warrior strength in the mind, and igniting the breath.

Week 4– (Tuesday 11th June) A winter water element practice
4th week working with the water element flushing the kidneys and bladder, giveing knowledge about the kidneys and the bladder and how to balance them in a yoga practice.

Week 5– (Tuesday 18th June) Heart opening asanas to expand
In the 5th week a safe space is created to open the heart through various asanas and meditation. Time will be spent observing and witnessing emotions arising.

Week 6– (Tuesday 25th June) Fun fire theme
For the final week, this theme embodies asanas connected with the element of fire. Intertwined with spiritual stories and poetry.

The last class of the block of six is a reminder to stay playful and have some fun during the colder months.

We celebrate with sweet treats after the practice.

Teacher

Ali is a qualified yoga teacher and has completed 500 hr Hatha training in Rishikesh India, 150 hrs restorative yoga and yoga nidra at Anahata Yoga Retreat, NZ. She has also attended few workshops for Yin Yoga. She has 3 years of yoga teaching experience in Amsterdam, America as well as NZ. She is also a keen dancer and has 8 years of dance teaching experience prior to her yoga journey.
