The Practice of Havan Workshop
Saturday 22nd Feb, 1-5PM | The Treehouse, 21 Clunie Avenue, Raumati South
In this 3 hour workshop-space we will co-create our own havan from scratch and it is an opportunity to deepen your existing practice of havan.
Together we will …
- learn about the protocols and wisdom underpinning the practice
- delve into the science of ritual, how and why it works
- learn about the sacred herbs for the fire
- work together, taking responsibility for a key role for the Havan, such as chopping wood for the fire, creating the ghee for the fire, making the prasad (sweet offering), setting up the havan space, flowers, incense, and sacred water, honouring the directions
- use the tikka/tilak/kumkum practice (the third eye red dot)
- learn the Ganapati Stotram, Agni Mantra and the Poorna hurti mantra that is used for all Havans
- and finally, experience the Havan, chanting 108 rounds of a simple mantra

There will be space afterwards to sit quietly and reflect on your experience and to ask any questions that may arise from this practice.
We will provide recordings of the mantras for you to take away and learn.
This workshop is perfect for beginner and experienced havan participants alike. You will get exactly what you need to receive.
Suggested koha $15-$45 (please don’t let finances deter you from coming; pay what you can afford. If you can reach further up the scale, this will support others to attend and make future offerings sustainable for us to host).
RSVP by emailing wellingtonkirtan@gmail.com to book in. Pre-bookings appreciated so that we know numbers in advance.
