We Require a Live-In Counsellor

Anahata is a charitable trust organisation, and we are currently seeking a counsellor to provide support and inspiration to our team. You will be responsible for providing counselling services and therapeutic support to our guests. You will guide our staff and volunteer group in applying holistic counselling principles to our yogic practice. The position also involves teaching Yoga and managing the mental health aspects of our Health & Safety systems.
We are looking for someone who has:
- a recognised qualification in Holistic Counselling;
- previous work experience in counselling services and/or the mental health industry;
- Yoga teacher training in the Bihar-Satyananda Yogatraditions or similar;
- strong communication & interpersonal skills;
- a willingness to join and support a small community;
- experience of living in an ashram/retreat environment (preferred);
- experience in human resources and health and safety (preferred).

Satyananda Yoga Teachers
Are you keen to immerse yourself in a daily yogic lifestyle, exchanging your skills for accommodation/food and teaching in Yogic practices?
We are inviting applications for our next intake of people to fill core roles at Anahata Yoga Retreat for the coming 2019/2020 season.

In return, we offer full exchange (after a short trial period) which includes an exchange of skills and time, for food, accommodation and teaching in yogic practices. We also offer the opportunity to attend retreats and training on specialised topics.
Anahata offers you immersion into Ashram Life which encompasses simplistic living, time out from the hustle and bustle of modern life, a healthy vegetarian diet and the most beautiful natural environment. We have a weekly schedule of Hatha Yoga, Yoga Nidra (psychic sleep), Meditation, Chanting (sound vibration), Havan (fire ceremony), and Kirtan (call and response singing).
We consider applications from all ages and backgrounds, including both NZ residents and overseas visitors (with the appropriate Visa and written and verbal English skills). Previous yoga experience is not essential – however a desire to learn about yoga, and to be an integrated member of the Anahata community while you are here, is important.
