SUMMARY:Power of Awareness Silent Meditation Retreat
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row gap=”35″][vc_column][vc_column_text]\nRetreat Overview\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text el_class=”content-subheader”]This 9 day meditation retreat with international meditation teacher\, Swami Anandakumar\, provides an opportunity to travel to your own centre\, to find the stillness within and discover that your own inner nature is unchanging. \nThe retreat offers the unique opportunity to explore tools that will help you to truly find peace\, happiness\, clarity and perspective on the whole of life.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”2135″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]This silent meditation retreat offers a unique chance for you to go into a space of silence to begin or deepen your meditation practice depending on your previous experience. Held with long periods of silence over 9 days\, it will help you to let your mind rest and enjoy a different\, deeper kind of reflection and relaxation that will leave you wiser\, and more ready for the challenges of life. \nRenowned meditation teacher\, Swami Anandakumar\, takes a fresh and direct approach to meditation which is effective for both the beginner and advanced practitioner. The combination of ancient yoga techniques with well-timed\, intuitive guidance\, aimed at the modern mind\, helps each person to find their way to deeper levels of awareness through access to their own intuitive experience. \nThese meditation practices will be balanced with Hatha Yoga\, Yoga Nidra\, Karma Yoga\, Kirtan and Havan (fire ceremony) to actively encourage a self-explorative approach to meditation and provide a gentle way to balance the mind and realign the awareness toward your own inner nature. \nWith more than 35 years experience Sw. Anandakumar helps to bring harmony to meditation practice\, outlining a working ‘road map’ in order to harmonise any conflict with the body-mind and find your way forward. This allows your meditation practice to come from a place of inspiration rather than a feeling of obligation\, which is uplifting even as you begin to face up to yourself. It’s a jumping off point for a deeper self-discovery. \nThe focus of this inspiring retreat is on Awareness in Meditation. And it will help to answer some essential questions. \n\nWhat is meditation?\nWhat is its purpose?\nHow do we practise it properly?\nHow do we maintain our meditation practice\nWhat are the benefits that meditation can accrue for us in daily life?\n\nThis course is suitable:\n• For all sincere students\, seekers\, and spiritual adventurers.\n• To develop and extend your regular meditation practice of finding the answers within the self.\n• Each meditation experience is unique with the potential to go deeper each time. \nAnd if you are interested\, read our Blog 5 Reasons to attend a Silent Meditation Retreat written by Mahima who attended this retreat with Swami Anandakumar in India. \n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row gap=”35″][vc_column][vc_column_text]\nThe Retreat Programme Includes\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]9 nights\, shared accommodation (unless camping)\, all meals and the full retreat programme. \n\n\n\nHatha Yoga classes\nGuided Meditation\nDaily Chanting\nKirtan (singing mantras to music)\nDaily Yoga Nidra (deep relaxation)\nKarma Yoga (action with meditative awareness\nFire Ceremony (Havan) and Chanting (healing sound vibration)\nPeriods of silence for reflection\n\n\n\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]\nAdditional Information\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Start Time: 10am onwards Friday 15th March – arrival/registration\nFinish Time: 11am Sunday 24th March \nComplimentary pick up: 5.45pm Thursday 14th March from Golden Bay Visitor Centre\nComplimentary drop off: 11am Sunday 24th March back to Golden Bay Visitor Centre\n \n\nDiscounts: A discounted rate of NZ$75 applies for the night before the retreat begins (14th March).\nSpecial Dietary Requirements: All meals provided are vegetarian. SUMMARY:Deep Ecology Retreat
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row gap=”35″][vc_column][vc_column_text el_class=”content-subheader” color=”#ff9900″]\nJoin us for an extraordinary\, heart-felt journey into enhanced connection and empowerment through Deep Ecology & Yoga\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text][/vc_column_text][vc_column_text][/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]\n\nWhy join this Deep Ecology retreat?\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]We are alive at an extraordinary moment in time. It is a time of growing uncertainty\, yet also time of great possibility when creativity\, courage and collective action can help cultivate change. This is a time when many of us are seeking ways to reconnect to one another and to the living Earth. \nDeep ecology is a holistic approach to facing the current challenges on Earth that brings together thinking\, feeling\, spirituality and action. It involves moving beyond the individualism of Western culture also seeing ourselves as part of the Earth. This leads to a deeper connection with life\, where Ecology is not just seen as something ‘out there’\, but something we are a part of and have a role to play in. \nIn this retreat\, we will draw on the work of Joanna Macy\, John Seed and Arne Naess. We will use theories and interactive practices from The Work That Reconnects to reconnect to out own true nature\, the web of life\, and to our human community. \nThis work supports us to experience first hand that we are larger\, stronger\, deeper\, and more creative than we have been brought up to believe. Opening our hearts and our minds to the love\, the grief we feel for our world\, empowers us to act on behalf of the Earth.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]\nRetreat Overview\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]This retreat combines the transformational journeys of Deep Ecology and Yoga under the guidance of experienced facilitators in a nurturing and safe environment. \nIn the Deep Ecology sessions\, you will be guided through the four stages of the spiral of the The Work That Reconnects in a journey of experiential practices\, poetry\, ritual\, song\, movement and silence. We explore and deepen our connections to Self\, each other\, and all Life\, in order to take part in the Healing of our World. \nYoga brings us into balance and harmony\, giving us the ability to enjoy life\, fulfil our potential and find our true identity. We will be practicing traditional yogic practices including Asana\, Pranayama\, Yoga Nidra\, Havan and Meditation. These yogic practices will encourage us to tune into both the universal nature alongside our own. \nWe hope that a combination of the two will empower you to act on behalf of Earth with clarity\, love and direction. \nNo previous experience in either Yoga or Deep Ecology necessary. \n \nTake a look at our blog titled – Deep Ecology – What’s it all about? Here we interview Inna Alex about her experiences of Deep Ecology and why the movement is important.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]\n Facilitator Training Optional Extra\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]This add-on option is available for workshop participants wishing to step into facilitating The Work That Reconnects or those already facilitating who wish to join a community of facilitators for experiential sharing. \nTwo co-creative sessions (one pre- and one post-workshop) support your own transformational Deep Ecology journey as well as to gain confidence assisting others on the path to coming back to life. \nThe first session will offer theory about the four successive stages of the work\, group facilitation basics\, and pointers for observing and learning from workshop facilitation during the weekend. Following the workshop completion\, we will have an extensive de-brief\, involving both practical aspects of facilitation and workshop layout as well as reflections on our personal journeys. \nInvestment = + NZ $75 for both sessions – 7th March 9.30-11.30am & 10th March 1-4.30pm\n[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”2411″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]\nThe Retreat Programme Includes\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]3 nights\, shared accommodation (unless camping) with meals and full retreat programme\, including:\n \n\nFour stages of the spiral of The Work That Reconnects: experiential practices\, poetry\, ritual\, song\, movement and silence.\nHatha yoga classes\nGuided meditation\nDaily Yoga Nidra (deep relaxation)\nDaily chanting\, Kirtan (singing mantras to music) and Fire Ceremony (Havan) and Chanting (healing sound vibration)\n\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]\nAdditional Info\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Start Time: 11:30am Thursday 7th March arrival / registration\nFinish Time: 12pm Sunday 10th March\n \nComplimentary pick up: Thursday 7th March 10.45am pick-up at Golden Bay Visitor Centre\nComplimentary drop off: Sunday 10th March 12pm back to Golden Bay Visitor Centre \nDeep Ecology retreat with Hui Option\nStart Time: 9:30am Thursday 7th March arrival / registration\nFinish Time: 4.30pm Sunday 10th March \nComplimentary pick up: Wednesday 6th March 5.45am pick-up at Golden Bay Visitor Centre\nComplimentary drop off: Sunday 10th March 4.30 pm back to Golden Bay Visitor Centre \n\nDiscounts: A discounted rate of NZ$75 applies for the night before the retreat begins (6th March).\nSpecial Dietary Requirements: All meals provided are vegetarian. SUMMARY:Maha Shivaratri Celebration
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]\nEvent Overview\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]\nJoin us at this auspicious time of Maha Shivaratri for a special evening of celebration.\n \nJoin us for:\n• 60 minute Hatha Yoga Class\n• Havan and Kirtan ( joyful chanting and singing)\n• Vegetarian Meal \nOnly $25 \nSee below for full details. \n[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”4004″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]Maha Shivaratri is one of the most celebrated and sacred festivals in India. Literally it means ‘the great night of Shiva\,’ a night in which we honour Lord Shiva. Considered in the Yogic tradition as the Adi Guru\, the first teacher from whom the yogic tradition originates. \nThere are many legends associated with this festival; it is said to be the day when Lord Shiva drank poison that came out of the ocean in order to protect the world. However\, the poison did not kill him\, it remained in his neck and turned his neck blue. \nMaha Shivaratri marks the union between Lord Shiva and the goddess Parvati\, the meeting of Shiva (consciousness) and Shakti (energy). \nCelebrated each year on the 4th night of the new moon\, during Krishna Paksha in the Hindu month of Phalgun\, which falls around the months of February or March. \nIt is a time when the planetary alignment and position are of the highest natural energy\, which makes this an auspicious time for spiritual practice.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]The Maha Shivaratri celebration will start at 4pm with a 60-minute Hatha Yoga asana and Pranayama (breathing practices) class. The class is suitable for all levels of experience\, from complete beginners to advanced practitioners. \nThe class will be followed at 5.15pm by Havan and Kirtan. Havan is an ancient fire ceremony from the ancient Indian Vedic tradition where we use mantra and fire for means of transformation. \nKirtan is a joyful and uplifting mantra practice that originates from the Bhakti yoga tradition. In Kirtan we sing the mantra in call and response\, it is a practice that brings connection to our hearts and to the present moment through sound. \nAt 6.30pm\, the program will conclude with a delicious vegetarian meal. \n \nDon’t miss this opportunity to come together as a community on this special evening of Maha Shivaratri to uplift and raise the vibration within us and around us. \n \nPlease RSVP before 1pm on Monday 4th March\, 2019 \nPhone: +64(3)525-9887\nE-mail: yoga@anahata-retreat.org.nz[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]\nExplore other yoga retreats and events\n[/vc_column_text]Vegan Banana Bread RecipeApril 9\, 2020 Here is a classic recipe for a moist\, delicious banana bread.
