This course will not provide you with a Permaculture Certificate\, as our previous Permaculture Design Course was cancelled. We’ve instead chosen to offer this experiential opportunity to those who are still interested\, please note that Robina McCurdy & Guenther Andraschko will not be teaching on this course.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]‘Permaculture’ is a design system based on ecological principles. Its focus is on consciously designed landscapes that mimic the patterns and relationships found in nature.  \nThere will be an opportunity to explore the twelve permaculture principles in an interactive way with different on-site projects and learning in an involved\, hands-on way. There will be theory sessions to support and consolidate this active learning. \nPermaculture relies on three core values: Earth care\, people care and fair share. It is an abundant\, ethical and practical method of developing the external ecosystem. Yoga is the inner ecology of living consciously\, spiritually\, and harmoniously in the world. Both concepts complement each other and blend together to develop a sustainable lifestyle within one’s inner self and the outer environment.  Yoga\, deep relaxation and meditation sessions will be woven into the daily schedule adding depth to the experience and offering yogic tools to take back out into your daily life. \nCourse Location:\nAnahata Yoga Retreat is located in a spectacular natural environment\, near the Abel Tasman National Park in Golden Bay. Anahata runs on solar power\, has three different examples of straw bale and earth buildings\, an extensive natural wastewater system\, organic gardens\, fruit trees and bees.  \nAs a work in progress\, all who come\, have an opportunity to contribute to the continuing development of this sacred space\, whilst learning valuable life skills for the health and wellbeing of individuals\, communities and society as a whole.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”5355″ img_size=”700×467″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text text_align=”center”]\n\nThe Retreat Programme Includes\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]\n 16 nights\, including all shared accommodation and meals. \nThe Permaculture Experiential Programme covers:\n\nPermaculture ethics and principles\nMapping and design \nSoil ecology\nFood forest and kitchen gardens\nView a working greywater system\nView alternative energy and natural building sites\nPlant propagation\nComposting and vermicomposting (worm farms)\nOrchard maintenance\, pruning and mulching\nTour to neighbouring permaculture properties\n\nLearn more about Permaculture in this recent blog post. Outside of these retreat stays\, there is also the opportunity to participate fully in ashram life through Seva stay during the Yajnas. \nDates: 24 October – 8 November 14 Nights \nIncludes: Prana Vidya Retreat and Diwali celebration. \nemail indiaretreat@anahata-retreat.org.nz \n \nYour journey begins in Kolkata\, where you will be greeted by an Anahata representative. After a day of resting\, we travel together to Rikhia in time for Diwali the Festival of Light\, (27 October). Diwali is an opportunity to connect with the inner luminosity and experience the joy of India aglow with thousands of flickering lights. Here you will participate in the festival alongside guests and ashram residents. \nPrior to the start of the Prana Vidya retreat\, you will have the chance to integrate into the daily ashram activities which includes Karma Yoga and may include kirtan\, chanting or other programs alongside the ashram residents. \nTake your practice and understanding of the Pranic body deeper by participating in the Prana Vidya Retreat (1-7th November). Prana (energy) Vidya (knowledge) is an ancient and powerful meditation that deals with the system of prana for healing and spiritual awakening. Knowledge of Prana is knowledge of the universe. Everything moves because of Prana\, it is source\, means and destination. \nDuring this 7-day course you will be introduced to the pranic system through daily asana\, pranayama\, mudra\, bandha and Prana Vidya meditation sessions\, including practical techniques for awakening the fields of energy present in the human structure. \nThroughout your daily theory sessions\, you will deepen your knowledge of this vital life force\, discovering how the aspects of prana within the physical body and through regular sadhana can help you to develop the sensitivity required to feel and experience the nature of prana as a living flow of energy within one self. And how it can be directed to improve health and vitality. \nPlease enquire if interested to stay on for seva or the yajnas. \n\nEvolving through the Chakras and Tools of Tantra Retreat\nIf these dates are not suitable for your schedule\, we are also running an earlier retreat to India and the Rikhiapeeth ashram. The retreat is titled Evolving through the Chakras and Tools of Tantra Retreat\, which starts on Wednesday 18th September – 28th October. \nFull details of this retreat can be found by following the link below: \nEvolving through the Chakras and Tools of Tantra Retreat[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”4164″][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_separator][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_column_text]\nTeachers\n[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”5373″ img_size=”medium” alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]Swami Karma Karuna\, founding member and director of Anahata Yoga Retreat\, NZ\, is an engaging\, intuitive yoga teacher with more than 25 years of training and experience. A yatra is a pilgrimage which offers an opportunity to explore dharma teachings and pathways to awakening whilst hiking through wild and pristine landscapes of our stunning natural world. A yatra cultivates supportive conditions to investigate our relationship to self\, others and our environment in order to deepen our sense of interconnection.  \nThe program will provide a flexible combination of silent periods for yoga\, meditation\, and reflective walking (wandering)\, as well as time for facilitated exercises\, workshops\, group circles\, and artistic expression. Enable personal healing & shed whatever may be holding you back.\n  \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row gap=”35″][vc_column][vc_column_text]\nRetreat Overview\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]We all have areas in our lives we would like to improve upon\, but there is often something holding us back. Whether it is challenging relationships\, health issues or other blockages in moving forward\, beneath the surface of these external manifestations lies negative patterns of behaviour that prevent us from connecting with the deepest part of ourselves\, and thus prevents us from experiencing and becoming the best version of ourselves. \nDuring this weekend retreat\, we will look at the Koshas\, or layers of our embodiment\, and learn how our reality is actually born from our own karmic tendencies and patterns of behaviour. Using basic Chakra psychology\, we will learn to identify and trace the problematic patterns back to the root of their physical expression so we may discover the most optimal tools in asana\, pranayama and meditation to achieve greater understanding and personal healing. \nFinally\, we will add in an understanding of numerology and the yogic philosophy of the soul’s manifestation in order to reveal a map of the multi-dimensional nature of the soul to see how the human earthly experience fits within it. This will allow us to begin to understand how our own Functional Perspective creates a reality of patterns and karmas. By the end of this retreat\, you will have the understanding and tools to manifest right action and change the course of your life![/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”6464″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row gap=”35″][vc_column][vc_column_text]\nThe Retreat Programme Includes\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]3 nights\, shared accommodation (unless camping)\, all meals and the full retreat programme. \n\nHatha Yoga classes\nSmall Group Discussions\nGuided Meditation\nDaily Chanting\nKirtan (singing mantras to music)\nDaily Yoga Nidra (deep relaxation)\nKarma Yoga (action with meditative awareness\nFire Ceremony (Havan) and Chanting (healing sound vibration)\nA Labyrinth*\n\n*We are offering the experience of a Seven Ringed Labyrinth\, as a walking meditation. Contrary to a maze\, which has options and dead ends\, the labyrinth is a single path that weaves back and forth on itself giving the illusion that you are getting further away from the source when in fact every step you take is getting closer to it. It is a wonderful metaphor for the spiritual path. \nThe labyrinth will be occurring on Sunday 23rd after the retreat comes to a close\, if you would like to stay an extra night to experience this walking meditation then we are offering an extra night’s stay for just $120 + koha in exchange for Shivani’s facilitation of the labyrinth. We encourage participants to bring a sacred object\, like a small or medium sized crystal\, to leave on the path inside the labyrinth as an offering of gratitude to the Divine Mother.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”6465″][vc_column_text]\nAdditional Information\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Start Time: 5pm onwards Thursday 20th February – arrival/registration\nFinish Time: 11am Sunday 23rd February \nComplimentary pick up: Thursday 20th February 6.10pm Golden Bay Visitor Centre\, where the Golden Bay Coachlines bus will drop you off if traveling to Takaka from Nelson.\nComplimentary drop off: Sunday 23rd February 11am back to Golden Bay Visitor Centre\, where the Golden Bay Coachlines bus will pick you up from if traveling from Takaka to Nelson.\n \n\n Special Dietary Requirements: All meals provided are vegetarian. Literally it means ‘the great night of Shiva\,’ a night in which we honour Shiva\, considered the first yogi and the embodiment of high consciousness.   \nThere are many legends associated with this festival; it is said to be the day when Lord Shiva drank poison\, representing negativity\, in order to protect the world. However\, instead of killing him\, he was able to absorb the poison and integrate it\, symbolizing facing the ups and downs of life without being influenced. \nMaha Shivaratri also marks the union between Lord Shiva and the goddess Parvati\, the meeting of Shiva (consciousness) and Shakti (energy). \nCelebrated each year on the 4th night of the new moon\, during Krishna Paksha in the Hindu month of Phalgun\, which falls around the months of February or March.  \n\n\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]The Maha Shivaratri celebration will start at 5pm with Havan\, Abishek and Kirtan. Havan is an ancient fire ceremony from the ancient Indian Vedic tradition where we use mantra and fire for means of transformation. \nKirtan is a joyful and uplifting mantra practice that originates from the Bhakti yoga tradition. In Kirtan we sing the mantra in call and response\, it is a practice that brings connection to our hearts and to the present moment through sound. \nAt 6.30pm\, the program will conclude with a delicious vegetarian meal.   \nDon’t miss this opportunity to come together as a community on this special evening of Maha Shivaratri to uplift and raise the vibration within us and around us. \nPlease RSVP before 12pm Saturday \nPhone: +64(3)525-9887\nE-mail: yoga@anahata-retreat.org.nz[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]\nExplore other yoga retreats and events\n[/vc_column_text]Raja Yoga – The Royal Pathway to Mastering Your MindMarch 4\, 2024The depth of yoga that is understood and shared in our modern times is primarily touching the tip of the… Read moreBuilding Resilience with Yoga and MeditationMarch 4\, 2024What is Resilience No matter who we are\, the state of the bank balance or which country we live in;… Read moreClean Your Glasses with MeditationMarch 4\, 2024“The way one see’s life\, is like looking through a pair of glasses\, formed at a young age.
