SUMMARY:Maha Shivaratri Celebration
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]\nEvent Overview\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]\nJoin us at this auspicious time of Maha Shivaratri for a special evening of celebration.\n \nJoin us for:\n\n Havan( Fire Ceremony)\nAbishek (Cleansing Ceremony)\nKirtan ( Joyful Chanting & Singing)\n Vegetarian Meal\n\nBy Koha/donation\n \nSee below for full details. \n[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”4004″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]\n\n\nMaha Shivaratri is one of the most celebrated and sacred festivals in India. Literally it means ‘the great night of Shiva\,’ a night in which we honour Shiva\, considered the first yogi and the embodiment of high consciousness. \nThere are many legends associated with this festival; it is said to be the day when Lord Shiva drank poison\, representing negativity\, in order to protect the world. However\, instead of killing him\, he was able to absorb the poison and integrate it\, symbolizing facing the ups and downs of life without being influenced. \nMaha Shivaratri also marks the union between Lord Shiva and the goddess Parvati\, the meeting of Shiva (consciousness) and Shakti (energy). \nCelebrated each year on the 4th night of the new moon\, during Krishna Paksha in the Hindu month of Phalgun\, which falls around the months of February or March. \n\n\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]The Maha Shivaratri celebration will start at 5pm with Havan\, Abishek and Kirtan. Havan is an ancient fire ceremony from the ancient Indian Vedic tradition where we use mantra and fire for means of transformation. \nKirtan is a joyful and uplifting mantra practice that originates from the Bhakti yoga tradition. In Kirtan we sing the mantra in call and response\, it is a practice that brings connection to our hearts and to the present moment through sound. \nAt 6.30pm\, the program will conclude with a delicious vegetarian meal. \nDon’t miss this opportunity to come together as a community on this special evening of Maha Shivaratri to uplift and raise the vibration within us and around us. \nPlease RSVP before 12pm Saturday \nPhone: +64(3)525-9887\nE-mail: yoga@anahata-retreat.org.nz[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]\nExplore other yoga retreats and events\n[/vc_column_text]White Bean and Artichoke CroquettesOctober 30\, 2025Filling and full of fresh spring spices\, these patties\, together with the spring sunshine\, will fill you with energy for… Read moreGinger Chutney RecipeOctober 9\, 2025Spring is the perfect time for detox to get rid of the heaviness of winter. SUMMARY:Power of Awareness Silent Meditation Retreat
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row gap=”35″][vc_column][vc_column_text]\nJoin us either in-person at Anahata Yoga Retreat\, OR online – from the comfort of your own home!\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]\n\n\n\nThe in-person retreat option includes Karma Yoga\, Havan & Kirtan and daily Hatha Yoga\, Morning Chanting & Yoga Nidra led by Swami Karma Karuna + 3x daily Meditation sessions with Swami Anandakumar.\n\n\nThe online retreat only includes 3x Meditation sessions with Swami Anandakumar.\n\n\n\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]\n\nRetreat Overview\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text el_class=”content-subheader”]This 4-day meditation retreat with Swami Anandakumar & Swami Karma Karuna provides an opportunity to travel to your own centre\, to find the stillness within and discover that your own inner nature is unchanging. \nThe retreat offers the unique opportunity to explore tools that will help you to truly find peace\, happiness\, clarity and perspective on the whole of life.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”8529″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]This silent meditation retreat offers a unique chance for you to go into a space of silence to begin or deepen your meditation practice depending on your previous experience. Let your mind rest and enjoy a different\, deeper kind of reflection and relaxation that will leave you wiser\, and more ready for the challenges of life. \nRenowned meditation teacher\, Swami Anandakumar\, takes a fresh and direct approach to meditation which is effective for both the beginner and advanced practitioner. The combination of ancient yoga techniques with well-timed\, intuitive guidance\, aimed at the modern mind\, helps each person to find their way to deeper levels of awareness through access to their own intuitive experience. \nThese meditation practices will be balanced with Hatha Yoga\, Yoga Nidra\, Karma Yoga\, Kirtan and Havan (fire ceremony) to actively encourage a self-explorative approach to meditation and provide a gentle way to balance the mind and realign the awareness toward your own inner nature. \nWith more than 35 years experience Sw. Anandakumar helps to bring harmony to meditation practice\, outlining a working ‘road map’ in order to harmonise any conflict with the body-mind and find your way forward. SUMMARY:Power of Awareness Silent Meditation Gathering
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row gap=”35″][vc_column][vc_column_text]\n\nOverview\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text el_class=”content-subheader”]This 6-day meditation gathering with Swami Anandakumar & Swami Kailash provides an opportunity to travel to your own centre\, to find the stillness within\, discover that your own inner nature is unchanging and connect to your higher source. \nThe gathering offers the unique opportunity to explore tools that will help you to truly find peace\, happiness\, clarity\, perspective on the whole of life and spiritual transformation.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”8529″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]This silent meditation gathering offers a unique chance for you to go into a space of silence to begin or deepen your meditation practice depending on your previous experience. Let your mind rest and enjoy a different\, deeper kind of reflection and relaxation that will leave you wiser\, and more ready for the challenges of life. Whilst Power of Awareness can be attended as a stand-alone gathering\, we highly recommend attending our Traditional Hatha Yoga Shuddhi Gathering to prepare the body\, mind and energy to go deeper into meditation. If you choose to book both the Traditional Hatha Yoga Shuddhi & Power of Awareness Gatherings as a package\, you will receive one free night of meals and accommodation in between the two gatherings \n\n\n\nRenowned meditation teacher\, Swami Anandakumar\, takes a fresh and direct approach to meditation which is effective for both the beginner and advanced practitioner. This allows your meditation practice to come from a place of inspiration rather than a feeling of obligation\, which is uplifting even as you begin to face up to yourself. It’s a jumping-off point for a deeper self-discovery. \nThe focus of this inspiring gathering is on Awareness in Meditation. And it will help to answer some essential questions. \n\nWhat is meditation?\nWhat is its purpose?\nHow do we practise it properly?\nHow do we maintain our meditation practice\nWhat are the benefits that meditation can accrue for us in daily life?\n\nThis gathering is suitable for:\n• For all sincere students\, seekers\, and spiritual adventurers.\n• To develop and extend your regular meditation practice of finding the answers within the self.\n• Each meditation experience is unique with the potential to go deeper each time. \nIf you are interested\, read our 5 Reasons to attend a Silent Meditation Gathering\, check out our interview with Swami Anandakumar or our Silent Meditation Gathering Reflections blogposts. Explore tools to assist in the release of deep muscular\, mental and emotional tension\, inducing calmness and clarity for a range of life and health situations. \nYoga Nidra\, Restorative Yoga and breathing techniques will be explored from practical\, scientific\, psychological and lifestyle perspectives. Learn teaching tools to effectively share a range of relaxation practices for differing client needs\, including therapeutic applications. \nDelve into each stage of Yoga Nidra including history\, symbology and use of sankalpa or positive intention. Investigate the relaxation response\, the Vagus Nerve\, building resilience\, sleep hygiene \, diaphragmatic breath\, pratyahara and relevant yogic theory\, mindfulness\, props\, principles of care\, creative teaching\, course and class planning\, client support and so much more! \nYoga Nidra \nYoga Nidra is a profound\, yet simple\, practice that encourages the mind to let go of the external world and turn inwards\, giving the senses a deep rest from the activities of contemporary society. The mind is gradually trained to connect into tranquility effortlessly. Ultimately the practice works on the mind to release impressions from the past and anxieties about the future. It helps us to retrain the nervous system and create new neural pathways that support the relaxation response. Yoga Nidra is a powerful tool to enable the parasympathetic nervous system and enhance deep sleep\, thus supporting health and well-being at many levels.= \nDiaphragmatic Breathing \nWhen we have the ability to alter the breath at will\, we are nourishing and optimising many bodily functions while managing the mind and emotions. Different basic breathing methods will be explored with the aim of developing the diaphragmatic breath\, which is one of the fastest ways to influence the vagus nerve\, responsible for turning on the relaxation response in order to help the body restore itself after states of stress. It is also an important factor in healthy digestion\, influencing gut health\, the microbiome connected to the immune system and important neurotransmitters such as serotonin. \nRestorative Yoga \nRestorative Yoga will be explored using the Pawanmuktasana Joint series\, which brings both the body and mind into a harmonious state\, supporting the flow of prana in the system and restoration. Other postures specific to supporting the relaxation response will also be examined in relation to adrenal glands\, breath connection and mindfulness. We will also delve into a more classical understanding of Restorative Yoga\, regarding props and extended time periods in supported postures. Restorative Yoga has been shown to support the dismantling of chronic tension patterns\, enhanced immune function and effective cellular respiration. It has also proven to reduce hypertension and mental and emotional stress to facilitate more homeostasis in the body-mind structure\, returning it to a natural state of ease and equilibrium. \nRequest an info booklet: yoga@anahata-retreat.org.nz\n \n[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”8274″][vc_column_text]\n\n \nThis Training is Designed for…\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]\n\nYoga Practitioners who want to delve deeper in their personal practice and learn how to manage stress effectively.\nYoga Teachers who want to develop new skills and deepen their understanding of yogic concepts and lifestyle.\nHealth Professionals who are looking for effective tools to support clients. \n\nMedical and health professionals\, psychiatrists\, psychotherapists and yoga teachers are using these practices in a variety of settings including schools\, offices\, community centres\, drug and alcohol rehabilitation\, prisons and nursing homes. Drastically reduce anxiety & depression by balancing blood pressure & your hormonal system \n4. Increase clarity and activate flow state to optimize performance \n5. Elevate your energy levels without caffeïne or stimulants \n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]\nAbout the workshop\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]\nThe following teachings\, derived from Marcel’s lifetime of practice help you experience life-changing results that will transform your body\, mind & soul and will elevate your current existence. \n1. POWER OF BODY & MIND \nRegain control of your own universe. Access your inner drug store; dopamine\, serotonin and adrenaline on top\, no more need for big pharma or external drugs. \n2. BREATHING TECHNIQUES \nStimulating the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system allows your body to get more relaxed\, feel energised\, alive and out of the mind. This will increase the power and potential available to you in your life. In 20 minutes of breathing you reduce your acidity\, become more alkaline and cleanse the body of unneeded waste materials and carbon dioxide. Inflammation and being too acidic is the beginning of almost all diseases. \n3.COLD ENDURANCE – ICE BATH \nDealing with the cold is dealing with stress. The cold is a symbol of the cold in your life. Give it loving attention\, positive energy and it will change in opportunity! Physically you train your Cardiovascular System\, 100.000 km of blood vessels\, your heart rate will go down drastically. And your natural resistance against physical and mental viruses and bacteria becomes optimised! \n4. SHAMANIC JOURNEYING \nHumans have been synchronizing voice\, sound and movement to produce deep trance states for millennia. This is how the group prepares for the ice bath to access the flow state. \n5. MEDITATION \nMarcel and Anicha use ancient techniques that help us access states that can benefit us in the modern world. Sharpen your mind to gain clarity\, release trauma stress and anxiety & access peace through heart-based meditations. \nFor bookings & enquiries\, please email: yoga@anahata-retreat.org.nz \n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]\nMeet the trainers\n[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”10330″][vc_column_text]\nMarcel Hof\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSince the age of 13\, Marcel Hof is training and has been pushing himself to the limits\, defying death while swimming beneath the ice – all in the name of total optimisation. \nMarcel Hof explored the extremes\, alongside his brother Wim Hof for more than 25 years.\nThey tested the boundaries of human potential so the rest of us can benefit. What they discovered has shocked the scientific community… \nMarcel works also with Hypnosis\, Attention\, Focus\, trance and voice\, to heighten the vibration and always works from Intuition what is needed in the moment. With absolute trust that all knowledge is already here\, that what comes up\, is that what has to be told. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][/vc_column][/vc_row]

\nRequest an info booklet: education@anahata-retreat.org.nz\n[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”8274″][vc_column_text]\n\n \nThis Training is Designed for…\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]\n\nYoga Practitioners who want to delve deeper in their personal practice and learn how to manage stress effectively.\nYoga Teachers who want to develop new skills and deepen their understanding of yogic concepts and lifestyle.\nHealth Professionals who are looking for effective tools to support clients. \n\nMedical and health professionals\, psychiatrists\, psychotherapists and yoga teachers are using these practices in a variety of settings including schools\, offices\, community centres\, drug and alcohol rehabilitation\, prisons and nursing homes. SUMMARY:Yoga Nidra and Restorative Yoga Immersion
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]\nCome discover the power of relaxation and restoration over this 4-day immersion long weekend focusing on the practices of Restorative Yoga and Yoga Nidra. \nYoga Nidra is a profound\, yet simple\, practice that encourages the mind to let go of the external world and turn inwards\, giving the senses a deep rest from the activities of contemporary society. The mind is gradually trained to connect into tranquility effortlessly. Ultimately the practice works on the mind to release impressions from the past and anxieties about the future. It helps us to retrain the nervous system and create new neural pathways that support the relaxation response and build resilience. Yoga Nidra is a powerful tool to enable the parasympathetic nervous system and enhance deep sleep\, thus supporting health and well-being at many levels \nRestorative Yoga has been shown to support the dismantling of chronic tension patterns\, enhanced immune function and effective cellular respiration. It has also proven to reduce hypertension and mental and emotional stress to facilitate more homeostasis in the body-mind structure\, returning it to a natural state of ease and equilibrium. \nBOOKING: To book your place\, complete this online form. \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column]RETREAT PROGRAMME INCLUDES[vc_column_text]\n\nShared Accommodation\nNourishing organic vegetarian food (dietary requirements accommodated)\nYoga Nidra Relaxation Practice and Restorative Yoga\nHatha Yoga\, Mantra Meditation\, optional Karma Yoga\nGroup Discussions & Theory Sessions on the science\, psychology and principles of the practices as well as sleep hygiene; daily life hacks to create calm; somatic (body oriented) techniques to manage trauma.\nFire Ceremony (Havan) and Chanting (healing sound vibration)\nOpportunity for private sessions (bodywork\, healing\, 1:1)\nRelax in our Woodfired Sauna\nEnjoy the stunning natural environment\nConnect with likeminded people in the community\n\n[/vc_column_text]ADDITIONAL INFORMATION[vc_column_text]ARRIVE: 3pm-5:00pm Wed. 2nd / bus pick up 3:00pm iSite\nDEPART: Sun 6th. after lunch / bus Mon 7th 8:00am iSite \nEXCHANGE: \n$650.00pp \nSpecial Dietary Requirements: All meals provided are vegetarian.
