Anahata Yoga Retreat, in Golden Bay, New Zealand, is seeking qualified Yoga Teachers trained in the Bihar traditions for the upcoming 2018 season starting now.
Anahata Yoga Retreat offers an immersion in to a daily yogic lifestyle which includes a healthy vegetarian diet and a most beautiful natural environment. We have a weekly schedule of hatha yoga classes, meditation, Yoga Nidra relaxation, mantra chanting, kirtan and havan (fire ceremony). We are seeking sincere and committed people who are willing to contribute with the attitude of a yogic aspirant, and who can also contribute to the overall running of the Anahata community and retreat centre.
- Yoga trained teacher in the Bihar traditions (or closely related) and/or initiated in the Satyananda Yoga tradition
- preferably with ashram experience and/or willingness and desire to live in community in a fairly remote location (1/2 hour drive from the small town of Takaka)
- willingness and desire to contribute in spirit of service
- Helpful other skills include: office and administration, cooking, building/maintenance, garden, marketing and/or graphic design
Opportunities to teach Bihar-style hatha yoga classes, meditation classes, Yoga Nidra, lead morning circle inspiration and guide other residents and karma yogis plus potential opportunities to lead kirtan, chanting, and havan. At the discretion of the head teacher or retreat director, there may be opportunities to lead more in-depth themed retreat sessions, including imparting theory, philosophy, and leading group sessions.
The amount of teaching per week is variable based on the number of teachers on-site and activities of the week. Most teachers could expect to teach between 1-3 hatha yoga classes per week, similar number of meditations and Yoga Nidra sessions in addition to other duties as part of community living and retreat centre operations.
As one of the on-site resident teachers, you will also be part of the daily operations of the centre and, when not teaching, other duties may include cooking, cleaning, gardening, maintenance, administration, co-ordination of karma yogis and volunteers, and other tasks as needed.
