With Guest Swami Muktimurti Starting: Mon 15 Mar 2010 at 04:00 pm Finishing: Thu 25 Mar 2010 at 11:00 am
Navaratri is a nine day period of astrological significance, in which it is deemed most auspicious to do spiritual practice (or 'sadhana'). With special guest Swami Muktimurti, from Australia, who is an expert in Mantra and ancient Sanskrit. The intensive nine day sadhana will involve chanting mantra, daily yoga classes, deep relaxation and meditation, some karma yoga (work with meditative awareness) and fire ceremonies.
• Intensive period of chanting and yoga practice
• Use mantra to purify & energise
• Daily yoga class , simple diet and periods of silence
• Sacred & powerful time for personal transformation
Traditionally the sadhana for Navaratri involves extensive chanting from the Vedic scriptures, mainly in praise of the many forms of the Divine Mother, and also Lord Rama, who, with the help of the Divine Mother, was able to vanquish the demon king, symbolizing our own inner battle with negativity.
It is said that an hour of sadhana during this time is worth 100 hours of sadhana at any other time.
The retreat will be an intensive period of chanting Mantra and Yoga practice to purify and energize the body & mind. There will also be a daily yoga class, simple diet and times of silence, as well as some Karma Yoga practice (work with meditative awareness) and a little free time for reflection.
The sadhana ends on the 24th with a Havan (fire ceremony) in the morning followed by a feast. Though participants can leave after this meal, it is recommended that people stay for the extra night and leave on the 25th as scheduled.
