The word Hatha comes from the Sanskrit “ha” (sun) and “tha” (moon). The basic principle being to unite the opposite forces: the positive and the negative, the sun and the moon, in order to promote balance in the body and mind.
During this retreat we will explore both the modern approach to Hatha Yoga, whilst also being exposed to the historical elements of Hatha Yoga through the theory and guided practice of Shatkarmas (cleansing techniques). These practices restore your physical system and lighten the body and mind; leaving you feeling revitalized with a set of practices to take away and integrate into your daily life.
Beginners to yoga will get an introduction to yoga postures, breathing practices and relaxation techniques, while the more experienced will be guided in how to deepen their practice. All participants get to experience the wider range of yogic tools available to support you moving forward in your life.
The retreat programme Includes:
• 2 Hatha yoga classes per day
• A personalized programme to take away with you
• Cleansing practices
• Group discussions
• Guided meditations
• Karma Yoga (action with meditative awareness)
• Daily Yoga Nidra (deep relaxation)
• Havan (fire Ceremony) & Chanting (healing sound vibration)
